Asagaya Jazz Streets 2025

Asagaya Jazz Streets 2025 returns for its 31st edition, transforming the entire Asagaya neighborhood into a massive jazz stage. Over two days, more than 60 venues including shrines, churches, schools, shopping arcades, cafés, and open-air spaces will resonate with jazz. The lineup features world-renowned pianist Yosuke Yamashita, the FUJI ROCK–featured band Mitsuyoshi Azuma & The Swinging Boppers, composer and pianist Kensaku Tanikawa with his poetic collaborations, and idol-turned-jazz singer Yū Hayami. With ticketed concerts at public venues and free performances on the streets, the festival invites everyone—from families to jazz newcomers—to stroll through Asagaya and experience music woven into the town’s everyday scenery. Now a beloved autumn tradition in Suginami, this festival brings together generations and genres in a celebration of jazz and community.

Multiple venues across Asagaya, Suginami City, Tokyo (approx. 60 locations around JR Asagaya Station, including shrines, churches, schools, and shopping streets)
Access: Directly accessible from JR Asagaya Station (North and South Exits). Venues are located along Nakasugi-dori and surrounding streets.

Admission

1 ticket per stage system.
Advance: ¥2,000–¥4,000 / On the day: ¥2,500–¥5,000
Jazz for Kids: Adults ¥1,000 / Elementary school students ¥500 (free for children under 2 on a parent’s lap)

Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa 2025

Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa 2025 transforms the streets and spaces of Shimokitazawa into a magical, moonlit art festival. For 17 days, from September 19 to October 5, the neighborhood will host large-scale art installations, immersive theater, music performances, workshops, and themed food and goods. Highlights include the iconic “Museum of the Moon” by Luke Jerram, the Japan premiere of “Schrödinger’s Cats” by Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, and Takayuki Mori’s luminous constellation dome “Uranometria” atop Higashi-Kitazawa Station. Visitors can also join immersive storytelling experiences, live music at local venues, and enjoy special menus created in collaboration with neighborhood shops. With nearly 100 projects, the festival turns Shimokitazawa into a glowing stage where art, community, and nightlife converge.

Isao Takahata Exhibition

The Isao Takahata Exhibition – The Man Who Made Japanese Animation offers an intimate look at the life and legacy of one of Studio Ghibli’s founding visionaries. Held at the Azabudai Hills Gallery, this special showcase traces Takahata’s illustrious career through original production materials, rare documents, and immersive displays. Beloved works such as “Grave of the Fireflies,” “Pom Poko,” and “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya” are highlighted, alongside fan-favorite photo spots including a recreation of scenes from “Panda! Go Panda!” Exclusive plush merchandise and the themed café “Café Isao Takahata Exhibition” further enrich the experience. Whether you’re a lifelong Ghibli lover or discovering the magic of Japanese animation for the first time, this exhibition invites visitors of all ages into a world of artistic wonder.
