Asakusa Samba Carnival 2025
Asakusa Samba Carnival 2025 is back with even more passion and rhythm as it celebrates its 40th anniversary on Saturday, August 30. This year also marks the 130th anniversary of Japan–Brazil diplomatic relations, adding extra sparkle to this iconic summer event. Held in the heart of Tokyo’s historic Asakusa district, the carnival transforms Umamichi Street and Kaminarimon Street into a lively stage filled with dazzling costumes, energetic samba dancers, and elaborately decorated floats. The S1 and S2 league competitions feature some of Japan’s top samba teams in an electrifying showdown. At the same time, a Brazilian market will be set up inside the Sensoji Temple grounds, offering visitors a taste of authentic Brazilian culture. Don’t miss one of the largest samba parades in the Northern Hemisphere – it’s a Tokyo summer tradition like no other!
